LEARN ABOUT NATIMBY
Natimby (short for “Nature in My Back Yard”) is a sanctuary of sustainability and sophistication in the unspoiled Bot River Valley. Born from the Stuart Family’s dream after their journey from Zimbabwe, Natimby blends tradition with innovation. From our flourishing vineyards and polo facilities to our eco-conscious composting operations, every detail reflects our passion for nature and community. Discover a destination where our story becomes part of your journey.
A Valley Reimagined: The Story of Natimby
It was the clear mountain water, the fiery sunrises that brought life to the valley each morning and the soft sunsets against the majestic mountains that attracted Peter and Sue Stuart and their family to a 130 hectare abandoned farm alongside Bot River 2002.

Carefully constructed dams and perennial streams have replaced dry and eroded river courses. Areas of critically endangered fynbos species now replace abandoned farmland.

Natimby is a small but fully integrated sustainable farming operation with a large-scale commercial composting operation on leased land belonging to the neighbouring dairy farmer.

Visit the farm, taste our wines or come and stay with us in our sustainable living lodge. Immerse yourself in a truly unique sustainable farming experience and explore and enjoy the surrounding family-owned wine farms and restaurants and the many activities offered on our doorstep. Our Regenerative Farming Journey
With three generations of regenerative farming experience, the family embarked on an ambitious plan to transform the landscape of alien invasive trees and abandoned farmlands into an extraordinarily beautiful sustainable living residential estate and regenerative Wine and Polo Farm with Guest Lodge accommodation.
Endemic species of birds, frogs and wildlife have now returned and thrive in the areas of natural fynbos, wetlands, flowing streams and carefully positioned dams.

The polo ponies and free-range chickens provide the critical soil nutrient recycling on our pastures. Garden, cellar and vegetable food waste provide raw materials for our Natimby Compost and Soil Health Research and Innovation project.
Sustainable Harmony: From Soil to Soul
At Natimby, sustainability is more than a philosophy—it’s a way of life. Our innovative composting system not only heats water for the Natimby Sustainable Living Lodge but also nourishes our Chenin Blanc and Syrah vineyards, as well as our thriving food forest and vegetable garden.
The nature reserve and trout-filled dam enrich the biodiversity, creating habitats for essential “pest-predatory” insects that keep our vineyards healthy and balanced.
After 22 years of dedication and resilience, we are proud to share this rare, self-sustaining ecosystem with friends and like-minded guests. Together, we celebrate a truly sustainable living environment and wines that honor both nature and future generations.
